But put the guy in jail for 50 years? What is the country coming to? At what point can we read the symptoms and see the underlying sickness? If a single college kid really can get into a national candidate's email account, and as a result, ruin a national election, doesn't that tell us something is seriously wrong with our political system, our society, our thinking, our democracy? What is the value of democracy if it's really so fragile? The real change we should pursue is to pursue openness, tolerance, non-judgementalness, forgiveness, and stop the mutual fear, hatred, and condemnation. We want a society based on rules and laws, but do we want these laws to completely control us? Our society is becoming inhumane. Put a college kid in jail for life? This kid's name might easily be Steve Wozniak or Steve Jobs, what if we had thrown them into jail for pranks they did in their youth. Three more federal charges have been filed against a University of Tennessee student charged with hacking into the personal e-mail account of Alaska Gov. and former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

David Kernell, the son of a Democratic Tennessee legislator, pleaded not guilty to all charges on Monday, and a magistrate agreed to push back his trial from May to October.
