TERM LIMITS UPHELD! Big changes in Knoxville!
The Tennessee Supreme Court has upheld term limits in Knox County. Big political changes are in store for Knox County.
From WATE 6:
The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled Friday that the Knox County charter is valid. That means eight county commissioners and Sheriff Tim Hutchison are term limited out of office since they have served more than two consecutive terms.
Knox County’s Trustee Mike Lowe, Register of Deeds Steve Hall, County Clerk Mike Padgett are also term limited.
The commissioners affected are: Mark Cawood, John Griess, John Mills, Diane Jordan, Larry Clark, Billy Tindell, Phil Guthe and John Schmid.
However, these officials are not gone from office immediately. They will continue to serve until successors are elected or appointed and qualified.
Only school board members and court clerks are not affected by term limits.
The big question here will be if successors are indeed appointed, or elected, and if appointed, will the commissioners allowed to serve UNTIL a replacement is named, be allowed to vote on their own replacements.
David Keim over at the News Sentinel is following the story as well. You can access the pdf file of the Supreme Court ruling at the Sentinel site.
Oh, and let’s not allow the moment to slip by without a “for the record” who was right and who was wrong. Who was wrong: Judge Weaver. Who’s he? The judge who tossed out Knox County’s charter and term limits. His judgment doesn’t look too good right now. (He was only correct…in part.)
Who’s right: Judge Jarvis. He apparently knew what he was talking about.

Don’t forget to add the Knoxville Bar Association board to your list of “who’s wrong.” They had the nerve to write a column for KNS Perspectives one Sunday saying it was wrong for people to criticize Chancellor Weaver for his ruling.

Let’s play President
Yeah, let’s play President.
My President is named John. He is a war hero, who has fought bad guys.
Well my President is named Barack Hussein. He has a pastor that curses like a sailor and a friend that bombed the Capitol.
FACT: Obama’s radical ties would preclude him from being a presidential bodyguard.
He doesn’t want to guard the President though; he wants to guard our country.
He began his political career in the home of a known terrorist (see below for proof), has traveled to Kenya to support the campaign of his Muslim cousin (see below for proof), and gave $800,000 this year to Acorn, a group who is openly falsifying voter registrations (see below for proof).

Term limits are excellent, Congratulations Knoxville.
The servants of city, state and local governments have had a strangle hold on the people way too long. Many such as judges have used their power to promote and implement their own agendas. While claiming that they are unbiased. Many have terrorized the general population with law interpretations and public policies that are self serving. The Judicial branch of government have
set themselves up to serve the bench as kings.
Term limits is what many cities, counties and states
are crying for.
