Import
BEIJING (AP) — China executed the former head of its food and drug watchdog on Tuesday for approving untested medicine in exchange for cash, the strongest signal yet from Beijing that it is serious about tackling its product safety crisis.
During Zheng Xiaoyu’s tenure from 1998 to 2005, the State Food and Drug Administration approved six medicines that turned out to be fake, and the drug-makers used falsified documents to apply for approvals, according to previous state media reports. One antibiotic caused the deaths of at least 10 people.
His execution was confirmed by state television and the official Xinhua News Agency.
“The few corrupt officials of the SFDA are the shame of the whole system and their scandals have revealed some very serious problems,” agency spokeswoman Yan Jiangying said at a news conference held to highlight efforts to improve China’s track record on food and drug safety.
If only we took public corruption one-tenth as seriously in America! Heck, here in Tennessee you can get away with practically anything if you’re a public official!
Perhaps we ought to consider importing some Chinese ideas?

Sure, can we execute CEOs that violate the law as well? The pharm companies and food companies have a much better chance of killing people than a government official.
Terry, what did you think of that story about the Surgeon General being told not to attend the Special Olympics because of petty partisan concerns?
Did you see the quote ¨why would we want to support those people¨? Did you find that as outrageous as I did?

Since even the berets worn by our US Army are imported from China, maybe a little justice would be appropriate too!
