On your dime…
Work harder! Tennessee government is depending on you! News Channel 4 in Nashville has an amazing report:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — At a time when a state program is facing an important federal deadline this week, TennCare is holding a week-long outing for their workers that involves playing golf, having a scavenger hunt and playing softball.
Channel 4 captured undercover video on Thursday of more than 100 TennCare employees playing or watching softball on the clock while being cheered on by the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders.
This was just one of many recreational events during TennCare’s Fun and Fitness week, which is subsidized by state tax dollars.
and this:
“These people are on the clock, right? Is this serving the taxpayers?” asked Channel 4 reporter Nancy Amons.
“Yes, it is. The whole purpose behind fun and fitness is just to have a healthful approach to living and making the right decisions for people’s health, and that’s one of the things we’re trying to do with the employee event this week,” said TennCare representative Chris Garrett.
“But you’re playing computer games. You’re playing Jeopardy. How helpful is that? Cookie bakeoffs? Is that healthy?” asked Channel 4 Reporter Nancy Amons.
“The sorts of things you’re talking about, by and large are taking place during break times for employees,” said Garrett.
But Channel 4 looked at the schedule of events and noticed a game show was scheduled from 9:30 to 12:30. A four-hour-break?

How typical. I wonder how many people on here that have argued with me about the tax increase that was forced down our throats were needed now? Doesn’t the new law require people to report fraud, waste and abuse to the state comptrollers office? If this is not waste and abuse, I do not know what is!!!!! I wonder how many other government workers read this blog and get that kind of treatment from their employer? Oh, wait, isn’t that supposed to be us? Aren’t we the employers of these people? Isn’t this the same TennCare office that had employees turning down the state insurance plan so that they could put themselves on TennCare? It makes me sick. I want a refund from my county and state governments. Maybe the money they have wasted might get me a weekend in Gatlinburg?
