Trial Number 1 in the Channon Christian, Christopher Newsome case has wrapped up and the jury has issued a verdict. Justice! From WBIR:
Boyd Found Guilty On Both Counts
Boyd’s sentencing will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at 9:30 am

The jury in the Eric Boyd trial has reached a guilty verdict on both charges.

All parties have been called back into the courtroom to hear the verdict, which the jury has reached.

I know it does not help the families now, but if we are very lucky Boyd will start thinking about “downward departure”. That is a sentence reduction that is awarded by a judge after a defendant provides “substantial” assistance in another case. And yes I am think of some upcoming trials for these other violent “things” that I have trouble calling children of God.
We will see since he will not be housed with them. They will be on the TDOC death row and he will be in a far away Federal facility. My fingers are crossed that he can/will deliver that very damning testimony.

If Boyd shared a life style with the other animals before they committed these horrible crimes, I am not sure sentencing him to a life with similar perpetrators is that big a deal to him. After all, he can still be a gang member and get his drugs and rape his fellow inmates to his hearts content. We’ll feed and house and provide healthcare and an attorney to look out for him for the rest of his life. So justice has not been served,really, has it?
