Disgrace to the Republican Party?
One of our radio listeners called in and emailed us yesterday. She was disgusted with a mail piece she received from the candidate running against Stacey Campfield in the primary. I’m not posting her entire email, but I did want to post what she typed up was the text of the mailer:
On the front it states:
“YOUR OPPONENT IS A DISGRACE TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND REPUBLICAN PARTY.” Republican Representative Kent WilliamsOn the back it says,STACEY CAMPFIELD HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL AND COSTLY.CAMPFIELD HAS TAKEN MORE THAN 150,000 OF YOUR HARD-EARNED TAX DOLLARS AND ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING!CAMPFIELD HAS “NEVER REALLY TRIED” TO TALK WITH GOV. BREDESEN!IS THIS WHO YOU WANT REPRESENTING YOUR INTERESTS IN NASHVILLE?
I couldn’t help but burst out laughing when she said “Kent Williams.”
Kent Williams says Campfield is a disgrace to the Republican Party?!? Kent Williams sells out his fellow Republicans on procedural votes, votes for Democrat Representative Jimmy Naifeh for Speaker, and takes money from Democrat leadership.
I’ve heard Ledbetter is a pretty decent guy, but allowing RINO, GOP back-stabbing Kent Williams to do a mailer for you, well, ’nuff said.
By the way, there are still several days left before the election. If you’ve got time or dollars, send them to Republicans like Senator Raymond Finney, Jerome Cochran, Stacey Campfield, and Barrett Rich in their races against spineless, sell-out Republicans.
State Representative Kent Williams: If you don’t sell out the GOP and vote for Jimmy Naifeh, then you’re a disgrace!!

[...] Terry Frank reports that Rep. Kent Williams, under fire from some of his fellow Republicans for accepting campaign funds from a member of the Democratic House Leadership, is quoted in a mailer from Rep. Stacey Campfield’s primary opponent calling Campfield “a disgrace to the General Assembly and the Republican Party.” [...]

Terry its amazing how Kent W spends more time fighting his own party than he does the democrats. If the GOP gets to 50 seats in November Im afraid this bunch of RINO’s will pull what the RINO club pulled in the North Carolina State House back in ‘03. I hope Im wrong but if Cochran and Campfield lose next week its going to be iffy come November.

I got the same mailer. Ticked me off. I would never consider voting for someone that speaks of a fellow GOPer in the terms that he used.

We have plenty of Rino’s up here in East Tennessee if we go by your guidelines.
Rusty Crowe:Voted for Sen. Wilder for senate speaker 6 times.
Ron Ramsey: Voted for Wilder 4 times and voted for Naifeh twice while serving in the house.
Jason Mumpower:Voted for Naifeh 3 times.
David Davis:Voted for Naifeh twice.
Will Representative Williams put the good of the people of Carter County above the will of the sometimes childish Campfieldian wing of the Republican party? You bet he will and that is something that rigid, narrow minded people like Stacey Campfield will never understand, but hopefully the people in his district will.

If I lived up there, I’d be voting for state Rep. Stacey Campfield. Most people who want Tennessee to become demagnetized to illegal immigration would do the same, I’d bet. Not to mention that Campfield has provided a window into legislative goings-on that the Democratic leaders don’t want us, the people, to have.

Stacey Campfield is a joke in Nashville and everyone gets it but him.

Hope Stacey keeps on “disgracing” the RINOs.
I want him to do it so much that I went to Stacey’s web site and donated to his campaign.

I think this illustrates just how the GOP has lost it’s way when it started to bend and ultimately break from it’s true philosophy: limited government, limited taxation and personal liberties without government involvement. Instead we have Ragsdale, Williams and McCain as examples from all levels of government. What about Arnie in CA? What about Bush? He wasn’t exactly a conservative in the truest sense of the word.
I think that these movements left come from two different issues. 1. The GOP has long let the Dems set the tone and therefore the GOP has to be on defense. The argument just naturally pulls all answers from where the debate starts. 2. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I’m not talking about bribes here because politicians from both sides take them and have conflicts of interest. I am talking about they thirst for power and the ability to shape things to maintain it. Even when these tactics go against the tenets of the party that sent you there.
Ok, gotta go. Nancy Pelosi is being petted by George Snuffalupacus on ABC and I wanna throw something at my TV.
