Flaws With the Gang of Ten Plan

More folks are talking about Gangsta’ Lil’ Bobbie Benjamins aka Senator Bob Corker.  In a piece in the Wall Street Journal today, Kimberly Strassel points out the problems with the Gangland Plan.  And today on his program, El Rushbo, Limbaugh himself, blasted the 5 Republicans (including Corker by name) saying that they’re either “stupid” or “selfish.”

El Rushbo Blasts Bob Corker and the Gang of Ten

Today on the radio at 3:30 EDT we’ll be interviewing Brian Kennedy with the Institute for Energy Research.  He’ll break down what he sees as the problems with the so-called Gang of 10 Plan.  Boiling the cabbage down, IER says we’re just better off doing nothing.

Of course, we’ve been talking about this since Monday.  And I blogged about it here and here.  And none of the major national media players have yet to pick up on Nashville’s WSMV report that our #3 GOP leader Lamar Alexander, charged with architecting the “GOP Message,” is supporting the plan.  This was confirmed by one of our callers who called Alexander’s office earlier this week.

Letting OCS ban expire trumps Gang of Ten’s ‘New Era’ plan

WASHINGTON, D.C.  The Institute for Energy Research (IER) today released an analysis of the New Era energy plan proposed by the self-titled “Gang of Ten” U.S. Senators.   Publicly-available details on the plan are limited to press releases and brief summaries, which form the basis of IER’s analysis.  The Institute’s resident economist, Robert Murphy, issued the following statement:

“Faced with the prospect of having the ban on offshore energy production expire at the end of September if Congress does nothing, this headline-hungry gang decided it had to do something before leaving town for the August vacation,” Murphy said.  ““The New Era plan is the same as the era we find ourselves stuck in today – flush in subsidies, tax credits, and various other government handouts, but short on the energy supplies our economy and our consumers need to prosper.  American families would be better served if the Gang and the entire Congress simply stopped trying to help, stepped aside, and let the offshore ban expire.”

On your program this afternoon Mr. Kennedy stated that the claim of Alaskan oil being shipped to Japan is a myth, that none is being shipped there. I waited a moment to hear his source on that statement, but it never came. I also noticed that you did not follow up on his remark as a good journalist would. Did you purposefully give him a pass, or is this just a good example of drive-by reporting?

Semi–he is the source. He is with the Institute for Energy Research. I’ve put the links to his website above. You can click over and send any email you wish.

And I didn’t follow up like any “good journalist would”? That’s a good one, Semi. The reports I hear from the media is that the polar bear will disappear and editorializing with statements like “the controversial idea of off-shore drilling.”

Unlike the media, I don’t pretend to be objective. I have an opinion and that’s never disguised.

Semi, you’re right. I think that Terry having anyone on there that actually posts their findings, sources and doing so in a manner that allows debate is indeed “drive-by journalism.” I can only imagine what you and other “objective” individuals might have done if someone like Al Gore filmed a “documentary”, received an Academy Award for this documentary, and then they found out that some of the opening “dramatic” footage was computer generated and STOLEN from a feature film.

I’m glad that facts and “inconvenient truth” don’t stand in the way of Gaia’s worship. I’m just glad that the tree huggers don’t engage in the same type of fact driven, objective tripe that Terry is exposing us to here on her blog and on their radio program. I’m glad that we see them sticking with what works: fear and fantasies.

[...] Flaws With the Gang of Ten Plan – Terry Frank [...]

I found my self-falling into the politicians trap today. I stood back and only half heard what they said Graham said about the “energy crisis” and it dawned on me. We don’t have an energy crisis. The energy is here within our borders and easily within our grasp offshore. The CRISIS is one of access. We have and ACCESS CRISIS and what the Gang of 10 is trying to do is further legislate and regulate access. Unfettered access is the ultimate relief from this crisis. So basically the politicians themselves and ESPECIALLY the Gang of 10 are, in fact, the biggest problem. It’s no wonder that they can’t fix the problem when there aren’t any mirrors on the House floor!!!

Access is the key Corker and the rest of the “Gang.” Learn it and live with it!!
