On the Radio
A little programming note: If you want the real deal on the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae situation, tune into today at 5:00 to hear John Berlau, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. John will give us a primer on the situation. CEI has been warning about Freddie and Fannie, in fact, their President Fred Smith testified before Congress in the year 2000!!
The problems? As CEI President Fred Smith summed it up nicely: they’ve been in the business of privatizing profits but socializing losses. Ayep.
Also in the 4:00 hour, David Freddoso will be on with us to talk more about his book. Some folks can write. Some can speak. And some like David can do both! He is great.
As someone who has run GOP campaign headquarters several times in the past, I can tell you from experience that not only do you need signs and stickers and t-shirts, but you need good information. A LOT of people will come into your headquarters who really do want information. David has put together one of those fact based, source citing, wealth of information publications that is a must for your headquarters.
If you’re in to moving votes or pointing out the differences between candidates, I would purchase his book.
Read it. Underline. Make notes. And then I’d sit down and type up a few pages of notes from his book with citation of page numbers included. You can then make copies and hand it out to folks who are interested.
It is an invaluable source for those engaged in the debate. If you watched the convention, there is no doubt you heard several speeches mention information that David discovered or wrote about.
Also on the program tomorrow, Brigitte Gabriel will be joining us to talk about her new book. If you’ve never heard Brigitte before, she is passionate and mega-high-energy. She’s a beautiful, fast talking female Steve Gill.

Having heard Brigitte on several occassions, I will be tuning in for this one too. She is no nonesense, informed and, at times, more open and honest than some in the PC crowd would like.

I especially liked the part about bombing Iran to send them a message. Shouldn’t we have her running DoD?
On Freddie and Fannie, if the taxpayers are footing the bill, wouldn’t simply nationalizing them be a better approach, since they would then own something for their money instead of the two entities being parceled out to other private interests at fire-sale prices?

To clarify, Israel is the sore spot in this situation. When have you ever heard any Israeli diplomat or any reporter bring up the issue of their “purported” presence there. Until they are gone (if they indeed have them), there is no standing to pressure Iran. If I were in charge, I’d immediately send Israel a message to hand over the nukes or we cut them off and they are on their own.

On the other hand, maybe Israel is bluffing, like Saddam. Look at how much good it did for him.
