The Chosen (all first ballot):
State Treasurer: David Lillard
Secretary of State: Tre Hargett
Comptroller: Justin Wilson
Unfortunately, Wilson is still on the list. How do you allow only one applicant as your GOP pick? Is it amateur, or is the fix in? Concerned Republicans ought to consider this either leadership incompetence or heavy handed politics. Take your pick on the theory on why Wilson was the only name on the list.
Now this is just the GOP pick. On Wednesday all the Dems and R’s will get together. The Dems will have their picks, we’ll have ours and the vote will go down. Either way, we’re going to get strong Dem leanings for Comptroller. Wilson has written plenty of big checks to GOP candidates since Sundquist brought him into the fold, but he’s neatly tied to the Democrat machine as well. If he loses, we lose no true believer here.
I think we’ll win with Lillard and Hargett. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson doesn’t make it. If not, I certainly won’t cry a river of tears. In fact, I’ll celebrate. Being “powerful” in Nashville as I’m told he is, does nothing for convincing me that he’ll represent Republican policies well.

Send our new Speaker Kent Williams a congratulatory email. speaker.kent.williams@capitol.tn.gov
Thank him for screwing the citizenry of the state. Wish him well as Jimbo’s manboy. And you may even send him some Vaseline for those cold nights he bunks in the Speaker’s chambers while Jimbo whispers sweet legislative thoughts in his ear.
Wonder if Don Sundquist is cheering now that there is a Republican more despised than he?

Where was Robin Smith and the Tennessee Republican Party when candidates for these posts were being looked at?
