GOP Fiscal Restraint

Preston has a great post over at Six Meat Buffet on GOP fiscal responsibility over at Six Meat Buffet.

And please note, every time you hear the argument that it’s those da**ed social conservatives who are mucking up the party, look at those who vote against our GOP Trademark: fiscal responsibility.  Other than Senator Shelby, I say the list is not your rank-and-file so-called Bible thumpers, nor is it usually.  Witness Specter, Collins and Snowe on the stimulus bill as another classic example of the social moderates kicking fiscal restraint to the curb.

In the words of a young Charles Brown as he argues with Lucy Van Pelt on deciding whether or not to kick the football:

“I don’t mind your dishonesty half-as-much as I mind your opinion of me. You must think I’m stupid.”

I should have known Lamar Alexander wasn’t going to change his stripes when I got a letter back from his office that explained his position on an issue completely different than the one I wrote him about (fiscal responsiblity).

Even though President Hussein says there are no earmarks in the bill, some members of the Senate tried to strip $8 Billion worth of them from the Omnibus Pork Bill. This attempt to force some measure of fiscal responsibility was thwarted by the following GOP Senators:

Lamar Alexander, TN
Bennett, UT
Bond, MO
Cochran, MS
Collins, ME (big shock!)
Murkowski, AK
Richard Shelby, AL
Snowe, ME (another big shock!)
Spektre, PA (biggest shock of all!)

Here is a very cool map that allows you to see where all the Pork is going (thanks to GOP staffer Tom Jones).

From the beginning I have opposed bailouts of any kind, whether for banks, car companies, or individuals because it would have resulted in a far quicker, although much more painful, repudiation of laissez-faire, unfettered free-market capitalism. I might favor something like expunging the defaults from credit records of those who have lost homes they could no longer pay for.

As it turns out, some Republicans might actually be considering the possibility that they could at least loosen the millstone from around their necks of nearly a decade (and far more if one considers Reagan as the beginning of the downfall) and at least look like they are trying to address the problem instead of standing in the way.

Much of Obama’s programs are doomed anyway, since a very large portion of the money will be stolen by the very people who drove the economy into the ground in the first place. They are really good at what they do, which is eating seed corn.

And we’re suppose to be surprised by Alexander’s actions why?

He’s never been a conservative.

So then what is a conservative and how do we distinguish one from the fascists and corporatists we have known since about 1980?

Semi, conservatives often fight for freedom. We fight for and demand limited government in our lives in accordance with the U S Constitution.

Fascism? Merriam-Webster describes it as a political philosophy, movement or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized, autocratic government headed by a dictitorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

Examples of fascism:
1. Everyone must make sacrifices for the nations economy instead of those that made a series of poor decisions living with the results.
2. Race is a topic unequally applied like the years of Bush being portrayed as a monkey and when the economy is portrayed as one, it is linked to B-HO and therefore racist while Steele of the GOP is being subjected to slave terms based on the same blackness in American.
3. Centralized autocratic government is self explanatory especially when you take into account the painful death of the 10th Amendment. Think of how many B-HO speeches where ONLY govt can solve these problems that in many cases the govt caused.
4. Dictitorial leader is best summed up with B-HO telling politicians that dare to disagree with him “I won” and to get over it. Dictitorial could also be shown when the Republicans were locked out of stages of the process of the porkulus bill. Dictitorial is passing the Dictators bill without reading it because the leader ordered it to be so.
5. Regimentation? Bring everyone into the same income levels. Tax, regulate or seize everything in our lives
6. Forcible suppression of opposition- look how the media took on Joe the Plumber. Look at how this congress and president want to end our First Amendment rights on the radio through a renamed fainess doctrine.

Semi, before the left throws out the word fascist or fascism, they might want to learn what it is and then look in the mirror. Fascism- forcing objectors based on moral obligations to perform abortions. Would they treat objectors the same in the case of war?
