Private Meeting??
Today on Tennessee Confidential I was honored to have State Rep. Stacey Campfield (R-Knox) as a guest. We hosted a good discussion on eminent domain legislation.
Also on Tennessee Confidential today was Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. During our discussion with Drew, he let listeners in on breaking news that there will soon be a meeting discussing Tennessee’s budget. No big news really…except that Drew Johnson tells us the meeting will be this Sunday at 2:00 pm!
Drew Johnson plans to be there, and while I can’t be there, I hope that there are many of you in the area who might be able to attend and see what plans are being made for your tax dollars at this “private” meeting.
My understanding is that a few key media people have been informed, however, not the media at large. I asked Rep. Campfield if the House members had been informed…he said they had not.
Is this how open government is supposed to operate? Private meetings, no notice, in a cafeteria, on a Sunday, away from the legislative hallways??? The intent is secrecy…make no mistake.
The meeting is in the cafeteria of the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower at 2pm on Sunday, May 21. Make plans to attend.
