More of Your Money at Work: A Half a Millions Dollars in City of Knoxville
How does your money work? It works in Knoxville by giving, er, graaanting $500,000 to remodel so that Urban Outfitters can find a home in Knoxville.
When Knoxville’s repeat requester of taxdollars David Dewhirst asks, City of Knoxville’s Central Business Improvement District board delivers. From WBIR:
A group seeking to rehabilitate the Arnstein building with apparel retailer Urban Outfitters acting as an anchor tenant has received a half-million dollar grant to improve the building’s exterior.
The Central Business Improvement District board approved a facade improvement grant for Arnstein Partners, LLC, to replace windows, marble work, and brick work on the 104-year-old building.
The developers plan to have the building ready for Urban Outfitters by October of this year. In turn, Urban Outfitters plans to open a store there by March of next year.
If I can get the time, I’ll try to research for you the running total for the amount of money Mr. Dewhirst has received from the City of Knoxville for development. It’s quite a bit.

Please let me know if you need any help with this project and maybe we can also get figures for D. Wayne Blasius while we’re at it.
Maybe we can get some of the sheeple pens eliminated.

I’ll see your half million and raise you href=”http://adage.com/article?article_id=142320″>$200 million in perpetuity for U.S. Tourism Agency.
“According to the World Travel Organization, Greece spends more than $151 million to promote the travel industry. Spain sends nearly $120 million, Australia over $113 million and the United Kingdom more than $89 million. The United States spends approximately $6 million.”
Riiiiiight. And right now the PIGS(Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain) are eating slop because of it.
