New Low: Blaming the 13 year old boy
Jamie Satterfield at the Knoxville News Sentinel has an amazing story on the Carl Scarbrough case:
A West Knoxville health club is giving the old short-skirt defense a new twist as it seeks to fend off a lawsuit over the alleged rape of a 13-year-old boy in a steam room by a former Oak Ridge labor leader.
Attorneys for the Fort Sanders Health & Fitness Center are suggesting in an answer to a Knox County Circuit Court lawsuit that the teenager is himself partly to blame for the alleged rape and may even have consented to it.
and this:
The boys’ parents contend in the lawsuit that the health club had received complaints about Scarbrough and alleged sexual shenanigans but failed to alert authorities.
Scarbrough was a longtime Y-12 employee, chief of the Atomic Trades and Labor Council and a one-time Anderson County commissioner.
This has to be an all time new low. Blaming a 13 year old boy for the alleged rape? Expect Fort Sanders Health Club to lose some members over this legal strategy.
Scarbrough has a history here in Anderson County, and although never mentioned in media accounts, he has been the “go-to-guy” in Anderson County for Democratic politics. He has served in various positions of authority, including being the county chairman for candidates like John Kerry and Phil Bredesen.
Normally, I wouldn’t think that is relevant. Sicko freaks come in all shapes, sizes, professions, and party affiliations.**** And I’ve not raised that issue on radio, on the tv show, nor in my columns. But because so many Democrats out there seem to think Mark Foley is indicative of Republican behavior, I intend to point out Mr. Scarbrough’s partisanship.
In the next few days I will post a police report from the City of Oak Ridge where Mr. Scarbrough was involved in an exposure incident with another male at a KIDDIE park and was released BECAUSE OF his “political status.”
***Proof from Reuters:
Many of the 125 suspects were arrested on Wednesday, including 14 in New Jersey, where ‘Operation Emissary’ was initiated.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined with the Justice Department to investigate the use of the internet to access child pornography.
Besides law enforcement officers, those arrested also included a clinical researcher for a pharmaceutical company, military personnel and a Customs and Border Protection officer, according to officials. They said several suspects have been previously convicted of sex offences against children or were under investigation in other pornography cases.
